🏳️⚧️ Statement on Political Parties 🏳️🌈
Pride in Southwark stands firmly and unapologetically with our trans and non-binary siblings. We are proud to be part of a community that uplifts, protects and celebrates LGBTQIA+ people in all their power and brilliance.
We reject transphobia in all its forms — whether it comes from individuals, political parties, organisations, or the media. Hate has no place here. We call out anti-trans politicians and those who seek to strip away the rights, dignity and humanity of anyone in the LGBTQIA+ family.
This year, no political parties will be permitted to march under their party banner at Pride in Southwark. This is not about exclusion — it’s about accountability. Everyone is welcome to stand with us, but only if they sign and support our clear trans-affirming message on the day. A message from us, the community, to those with the levers of power to stand against hate.
That means committing to be a voice for full trans equality and inclusion within the organisations and movements they are part of; to listen to trans voices; and to actively call out exclusionary or dehumanising policies, speech, and behaviours — wherever they appear.
We are proud to be entirely corporate-free — no big business sponsors, no branding, no rainbow-washing. Pride in Southwark is by the community, for the community.
Pride is a protest. Pride is power. Pride is solidarity. Trans rights, and the rights and freedoms of everyone in the LGBTQIA+ community, are not up for debate.
